Suunto Games. Kadaja-Hatiku.

As planned, this weekend I (and Dace, and Sandra, and lot of Estonians and some Latvians, and Finns, and Russians, and even one Icelander) attended Suunto Games made by OK Põlva Kobras. I should say that autumn has reached also Estonia. Why? Because it was rather easy to run.

1. day.
I didn't know what to expect from myself, taking into consideration that the length of the course was 10 km. After first hundred meters I felt myself very comfortable into the terrain and the map. To the 5th control I decided to skip the straightest path, because of.. water. Yeah, I was pretty sure, that I could go straight and it would be just fine, but, no, no, no, it was so me deciding, that I don't want to go into the water. So I lost at least 1 minute there. To the 8th control I got caught by Kirti Rebane, one of Estonian leaders. She was faster than I was, but to my advantage I saw her to the next few controls. To the 12th one I was all alone again and, as I was running in my own rhythm all the time, I didn't make mistakes. So on my way to the 13th I saw Kirti once again behind me - she had lost some time somewhere. We were together till the public area, but in the last long leg, which had to be passed almost along the road, Kirti ran away. I was slower than previously to the 17th and 18th, I just hit my eye with the branch and fell, and didn't know exactly where to look for both of those controls. In the end I was in the 6th place losing 5 minutes to the best time of Merike Vanjuk and 1 minute to the 4th and 5th position. Actually I was rather satisfied with what I've done.

2. day.
We had a chasing start. I knew that I can win any of girls ahead of me only in case they make bad mistakes, but as in elite class none of them does so.. I just had to keep my position, and there was actually nothing to worry about, because the next girl (it was Eleri from OK Võru) started 8 minutes after me.
The start was easy and I could run without pushing myself for that. The first important mistake I made to the 8th control, where approximately in the middle of long leg I just didn't use any of paths - instead of them I "swam" in two marshes. This could cost me a minute. To the next three controls I was slow and even then made a mistake to the 11th one. To make some change, I realized that I should run faster and so I did to the next four controls. The end of the race was not that well runnable, so I raised and fell all the time :D Actually, in this ending part my performance was worse than expected, but at least I felt some power in my body.
So the 6th position once again.

Sandra won her class N16A!
Apart from running we all three Latvian ladies had a great time in Kose and Eestimaa. As always?

What's next? More or less my orienteering and competing "gap" year is over. There are only some small events left for even more fun than all the previous races.
I am looking forward to the next year. First of all, I'm looking forward to the winter :) Timo roller-skied, Dace roller-skied, I'm missing real skiing a bit.
